Anthony Center Release Routes

Anthony Correctional Center is a West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation community-corrections facility at 313 Anthony Center Drive in White Sulphur Springs. WVDCR says it primarily serves men and women ages eighteen through twenty-five who are committed for six months to two years. That commitment has its own court-return model. It should not be described as an ordinary county jail stay or a standard prison parole case.

Successful completion returns the participant to the committing court. WVDCR states that probation of up to five years follows. The court return and the later supervision are therefore part of the release trail. A participant found unfit or repeatedly violating institutional rules may instead return to the committing court for the original sentence. In both cases, the person can leave Anthony's active program data, but the outcomes are very different.

The right statement is narrow. WVDCR can establish completion or return. The court controls the resulting order. A probation office can confirm its own role within legal and privacy limits. None of those records alone should be stretched to claim that every part of the sentence or supervision has ended.

Confirm Anthony Center Releases

A regional-jail roster is not the main search route for Anthony Correctional Center. Start at the WVDCR offender-search hub for the appropriate identity and facility record, then follow the committing-court case. If the person successfully completed the program, the court docket should show the return and resulting probation order. If the placement ended unsuccessfully, the court record should show how the original sentence was handled.

1. Match the person through full name, date of birth, OID, commitment dates, and the court case that sent the person to Anthony.
2. Request the WVDCR completion, release, or return documentation and the date the person left Anthony's custody.
3. Open the committing-court docket and obtain the order entered after the return.
4. When the order imposes probation, contact the court's adult probation office rather than treating WVDCR's prison search as a probation database.
5. If another sentence or custodian appears, follow that destination through its official search and record office.

For Greenbrier cases, the official Judiciary county page lists Adult Probation at the courthouse in Lewisburg. Another county may be the committing court, so do not assume that physical location at Anthony makes Greenbrier the controlling case. Use the court named in the commitment and return documents.

Anthony Center Release Records

Send the operational record request to WVDCR. Give the full name, date of birth if known, OID, approximate commitment and exit dates, Anthony Correctional Center, committing county, and court case number. Ask for the commitment record, program completion or return document, actual custody-change date, release or transfer authority, destination, release checklist, and any discharge or supervision document that applies.

WVDCR Policy 151.00 identifies release documents, court-ordered releases, discharge material, and release checklists among offender-record components. That establishes that the categories exist, but it does not promise full public access to every page. Ask the custodian to release nonexempt portions when redaction is needed. Request an electronic copy.

Under West Virginia Code §29B-1-3, the public body must respond within no more than five days after excluding weekends and legal holidays by producing the record, setting an inspection time, or giving a written denial. A large request may take longer to complete. WVDCR Policy 142.00 lists paper copies at $0.15 per page plus postage, paid in advance. State law does not allow search or staff-time charges to be treated as reproduction costs.

Anthony Completion Court Records

The committing court is the hinge between facility exit and community status. Obtain the order that placed the person at Anthony, the docket entry recording the return, and the order entered afterward. These records identify whether successful completion led to probation or whether the court addressed the original sentence after an unsuccessful placement.

Greenbrier Magistrate and Circuit systems are different. Magistrate Court handles misdemeanors and initial felony events, while Circuit Court maintains felony and bound-over matters. The Greenbrier Circuit Clerk also holds petitions involving probation or home incarceration. A case that began in Magistrate Court may need a second search in Circuit Court. The actual Anthony exit time remains a WVDCR fact, so pair the docket with the facility record.

Anthony Release Transportation Plan

WVDCR's prison and community-corrections transportation policy provides for travel toward the county of last commitment or an approved release-plan destination. It may use a nearby bus station and one-way fare from mandatory savings, with the state covering a shortage, or transportation to the county-seat courthouse when that is closer. The individual plan controls.

Do not promise a particular bus, station, or drop point. Confirm the release category, approving staff, committing court, and current destination. This rule differs from the jail-unit provision at Southern Regional Jail, which permits a call to family or friends to arrange a ride. The facility type matters at release.

Note: Verify the approved destination before travel because the committing court may be outside Greenbrier County even though Anthony is local.

Anthony Probation After Release

Probation is a court sentence served in the community under stated conditions. It is not parole. The West Virginia Parole Board decides parole for eligible prison inmates, while probation follows a court order. Board materials say Anthony's young-adult commitment population is not parole eligible and that Anthony holds no parole hearings.

No verified public name-search exists for ordinary Greenbrier probationers. Use the public docket first, then ask the office only for information it may lawfully provide. WVDCR's prison offender search is not a substitute.

Conditional release from a prison sentence under Parole Board authority, which is not Anthony's program route.

Discharge

The formal end of a sentence or supervision term, not merely the day a person leaves Anthony.

Anthony Center Renovation and Capacity

WVDCR announced a $30 million renovation at Anthony Correctional Center. The work includes demolition and rebuilding, a vocational structure, and a female residential unit. The planned capacity is 112, with thirty-two female and eighty male spaces. This is locally distinctive because Anthony is physically in Greenbrier County and serves a specialized statewide commitment rather than ordinary county detention.

Construction changes do not alter the evidence needed for a release. Facility staff and WVDCR document the exit. The committing court decides the outcome on return. Probation documents any later court supervision. Keep those stages distinct even when a public result changes during renovation.

Anthony and Southern Release Differences

Anthony Correctional Center and Southern Regional Jail serve different purposes. Southern Regional holds pretrial and sentenced jail populations from seven counties and can release a person on bond, a court order, time served, or another route. Anthony takes a specialized young-adult commitment and returns the participant to the committing court.

A Greenbrier arrest does not begin at Anthony simply because the facility is in the county. Search Southern Regional for ordinary regional-jail custody. Use Anthony's WVDCR and court-return route only when the commitment record identifies the center. If a person leaves Anthony for another secure placement, the receiving record replaces the community-release branch. Ask for the destination. If successful completion leads to probation, use the court order and supervision office. This decision prevents a change of building from being mislabeled as full discharge.
